Te Taua Moana Marae Visit 2010

Matariki Celebration 2010 - Rewena Paraoa (4 day process).

This year we celebrated Matariki in our traditional Bayview Way with games, a feast, waiata, family and whanau. We also made Rewena Paraoa (Potato Bread - a four day process) which was delicious. We ate the bread at the feast, along with kumara, and sausage cooked on the BBQ. Thank you to all our lovely helpers who made it possible once again. We cannot do it without you. Happy Matariki Everyone!!!!!

The Waka Blessing/Matariki Shared Cultural Lunch.

On Monday 14th it was our Waka Blessing and Matariki Shared Cultural Lunch. Lots of our parents stayed for the occasion. It was a very very special time. Marcus Topine blessed our Waka and Lesley welcomed everyone and thanked Matt very much for carving the Waka for the kindergarten. What a legacy. We are truly blessed here at Bayview Kindergarten. :)

Our Visit to Bayview School library

4th June 2010

We went over to Bayview School Library to meet Clifford the Big Red Dog. We sang Tohora Nui and the new song we had been learning Hoa Te Waka. Clifford loved our singing. When we left we all got Clifford's autograph. We love Clifford.

Billy Beaver and Sarah

Billy Beaver and Sarah visited kindergarten from Hilton Brown Swim School.

We learnt a song and dance about keeping safe near water and always swim with an adult.

We got to give Billy a High five and a cuddle at the end. We all enjoyed the visit.
